Last week, the coach of the The Cypress Cyclones, Bernadette Arizmendi, forwarded us an e-mail that she sent out to a few parents. The e-mail read:

“I am reaching out to you today to because I am looking for some leads to help a Girls under -10 soccer team. I coach my daughter’s soccer team in Cypress, CA. We played in tournaments this past weekend, and placed second to a really awesome team. The team that beat us is from Huntington Park.

From the tournaments only one team moves on to represent Southern California and compete in the California Championships in Davis, CA on March 28th. However, Huntington Park, having placed 1st is not able to make it because their families cannot afford another trip. It’s so sad. ..Of course I would have loved for my team to have made it and my team will have to go if the Huntington Park team cannot make the trip. But the Huntington Park girls were such wonderful players that they really deserve to go. They basically need help getting there and back to this one day tournament. If you or anyone you know would be willing to sponsor them, let me know. Even a $10, $20 contribution would help. I’m trying to raise money to help them charter a bus.”

Bernadette had been asking parents to contribute and had reached out to us to help Huntington Park’s girls youth soccer team, The American Eagles, the same team she lost against in the finals.

Wednesday, Ryan announced that we’d be providing the team with transportation to and from the championship, lodging in Davis, a welcome reception when they arrive, $500 spending cash and both teams will receive tickets to the Los Angeles Sol’s inaugural game Sunday, March 29 against the Washington Freedom!

Thanks again to the Los Angeles Sol, AM 570 KLAC, Jackson Limousine and Hallmark Inn in Davis, CA.
