Kelly Clarkson and One Republic’s Ryan Tedder Team Up To Write New Single, “Already Gone”

Yes! The song that I very much wanted to be Kelly’s followup to “My Life Would Suck Without You” (sorry, I was not a fan of “I Do Not Hook Up”) is being released as a single on August 11th. Ms. Clarkson co-wrote this haunting ballad with OneRepublic lead singer Ryan Tedder, who also produced the track, and it’s every bit as potent as the other recent smashes he’s penned (Beyonce’s “Halo” and Jordin Sparks’s “Battlefield.”) Some have complained that it sounds too much like “Halo”, but I don’t hear a lot of similarities in the melody, and in fact, I think “Already Gone” is a better song. Hopefully, this single will return Kelly to the upper reaches of the chart that “I Do Not Hook Up” wasn’t quite able to scale.

What do you think? Does it sound too much like “Halo” to you? How does “Already Gone” stack up against other Kelly Clarkson hits?
