In a hilarious twist a very serious issue, comedian Stephen Colbert took to his show Monday to announce a new partnership with Bing.com to bring aid to the Gulf Coast region affected by the oil spill.
“I just wish there was some way I could donate someone else’s money,” joked Colbert on his Comedy Central show The Colbert Report. “Fortunately there is a corporation that has offered to help me help the Gulf…the website Bing.”
In this new partnership, Colbert and Bing have made a $100,000 commitment to a new charitable fund, The Colbert Nation Gulf of America Fund, which is managed by the Baton Rouge Area Foundation. The fund will be used for general relief, and from it, grants will be made to nonprofits that work directly to help the people and wildlife affected by the oil spill.
