Morgan, a judge on Britain and America’s Got Talent, met King for the first time yesterday, said he was in awe when meeting the broadcasting veteran.
“It was an amazing moment for me. Larry is one of my all time heroes…to be able to interview everyone that matters in the world, it’s an incredible thrill to the interviewer,” exclaimed Morgan.
Ryan had some news for Morgan as well. Ryan told Morgan he called Larry yesterday after the two had met yesterday, to ask, “how was it?” Ryan told Morgan, “[Larry King] said to me, ‘you know what? I really like him. He’s a kind guy, he’s going to do a great job, we had a great conversation about life.’ ” Morgan added, “I think he liked the line I came out with, they asked me, ‘what’s it like to replace Larry King?’ and I said, I can only equate it to the guy who must have been told once, you’re following Frank Sinatra at the Sounds in Vegas.”
Morgan also stated that he is “looking forward” to working with King, who is not entirely leading CNN. When asked if he would have King on his show Morgan replied, “I would like to interview him, and then he interviews me. I think it would be great television.”
Morgan also expressed how excited he is about broadcasting out of New York, for it is only a six hour flight back to England, where his boys go to school. “What we do know, is we want to make it unpredictable, a lot of it will be pre-taped…I like having 2 hours with somebody and really getting into them. I like live, I like both. I want to mix it up. I want to make it exciting and slightly dangerous.”
