‘Idol’ Hopeful Chris Medina Tells Emotional Story of Fiancé’s Tragic Accident [VIDEO]
It seems as if there wasn’t a dry eye in America during the last five minutes of “American Idol” Wednesday night, as hopeful Chris Medina closed the episode with a heartbreaking story of personal tragedy. Two weeks before he was to marry his fiancé Julia Ramos, she was in a tragic car accident and spent a month in a coma before awaking with extensive brain damage.
The 26-year-old aspiring singer auditioned before Steven Tyler, Jennifer Lopez and Randy Jackson in Milwaukee, where he sang a rousing rendition of The Script’s “Break Even.” He told “Idol” producers, “If I were to make it Hollywood, I feel like it would get her to be happy again. I would feel like I would already won.”
After Medina sang for them, Tyler, Lopez & Jackson invited his fiancé into the audition room where they revealed to her that they were indeed giving him a golden ticket to Hollywood.
Late Wednesday and into Thursday, “Chris Medina” was a trending topic on Twitter, with thousands of viewers sharing their appreciation for Medina’s story and praising him for being a stand-up man.
