Fast Food Landmark Gets Healthy Facelift From Jamie Oliver [AUDIO]
Food revolutionist and Emmy award winner, Jamie Oliver stopped by the studio Wednesday morning to discuss “On Air with Ryan Seacrest” the struggles he’s been facing with getting into LA schools as well as his assistance in revolutionizing local fast food joint Patra’s Burgers which re-opens today!
In regards to his food revolution within LA, Jamie explained “LA parents revolted before I even got here, I got thousands and thousands of emails,” adding “whatever the public inspires me to do, I do. I don’t really have a choice.”
However, as far as the LAUSD is concerned, Jamie reveals they consider the “TV cameras as destructive,” yet if you can find a kid or parent who feels the same, Jamie admits “I’d be surprised.” Because LA parents and kids are on board assisting Jamie, he shares upcoming season 2 of “Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution” contains “some of the most powerful and moving moments in my entire career…kids have this incredible way of simplifying what really matters and when you harvest that voice which I think the show has, that’s powerful.”
Until season 2 of “Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution” airs in April, you can help Jamie get into the LA schools by going to his site and “email the board to reaffirm LA’s passion to change and open mindedness …it’ll take 30 seconds.” Jamie also stresses “I don’t want to upset the board, I want to work with them…and when this show comes out I need LA to ride this wave…we have 6 weeks to make our voice clear.”
While working on getting in to the schools, and moving his local kitchen from Westwood to outside West Adams, Jamie’s also been working closely with local fast food joint Patra’s Burger.
Owner Dino shared his father initially opened Patra’s Burgers in the 60’s in the Glassell Park area and the second location which Dino now runs in 1978 and is now the home of the Revolution Burger. Jamie has taken over half the menu with his signature dishes.
