Jennifer Lawrence Hopes Mel Gibson’s Drama Doesn’t Affect ‘Beaver’ Box Office [AUDIO]
Jennifer Lawrence called into “On Air With Ryan Seacrest” to talk about having her family at the Oscars, her new obsession with Katniss Everdeen of sci-fi novel “The Hunger Games,” and working alongside Mel Gibson in the upcoming film “The Beaver.”
Jennifer not only won over film critics for her role in “Winter’s Bone,” but also the fashion critics wearing a red Calvin Klein gown at the 2011 Oscars. Jennifer discusses having her family at the awards show, “It was actually fun. I thought it was the most fun out of the awards leading up to it, because it was less pressure. All of my family was there. All my brothers, my sister-in-law, and my parents. I don’t really know how I pulled that one off.”
Since her critically acclaimed performance in “Winter’s Bone,” Jennifer has been attached to several projects including highly anticipated “The Hunger Games,” the popular young adult science fiction novel. She says, “The books are so incredible. They have a huge fan base which I’m apart. I read them awhile ago, and was obsessed with them.”
Jennifer reflects on the taxing audition process for “The Hunger Games” saying, “I had to audition for the part, and I did this really long improve with Gary Ross, the director. It was the most terrifying thing in my life! I haven’t been nervous at an audition in so long, but that one got me.” She continued, “from now on when I come out of auditions crying it must be a good sign!” Look for “The Hunger Games” wide release on March 23, 2012.
The next film Jennifer will be appearing in is “The Beaver” directed by Jodie Foster and starring the highly controversial Mel Gibson. When asked if moviegoers will be able to look past all of Mel Gibsons more recent drama Jennifer replied, “I don’t know. I hope they do. The performances are unbelievable and heartbreaking.”
