Prince William and Kate Middleton, now Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, officially tied the knot, Friday, April 29th and in attendance to view the royal nuptials was everyone worthy, from royality Princess Eugenie of York to even celebs Victoria & David Beckham-all of which donned, in tradition, a royal hat.

In an interview with FashionEtc, Philip Treacy, celeb and royal hat designer, describes a royal wedding hat as, “a hat is a purely individual accessory. There aren’t any trends with hats. It kind of defeats the object of the exercise if everyone’s wearing the same kind of, you know, bowler. The purpose is to make that person feel special and different, and everybody injects their own personality into the hat. I mean, they don’t, but I try and inject that.”

Treacy created hats for 36 guests in total, including Prince Charles‘ wife, the duchess of Cornwall, Princess Beatrice, Princess Eugenie, Princess Michael of Kent, Queen Anna-Marie of Greece and Princess Mathilde of Belgium, Victoria Beckham, David Beckham, and more!

Take a look at of all sorts of different styles, shapes, and sizes of royal hats-from Victoria’s blue satin pillbox hat to Princess Beatrice of York’s ‘unique’ bow design!
