Should Pippa Middleton Have Worn White? [POLL]
Sure Duchess Kate Middleton looked gorgeous at her Royal Wedding Friday, April 29th but her maid of honor and sister Pippa Middleton was no bore, as she looked almost (if not equally) as stunning-and even donned the conventionally avoided color of white!
Wedding etiquette, most notably observed in modern Western cultures, notes a guest who wears white to a wedding as competing with the bride and is generally considered unanimously a fashion choice to be avoided.
However, looking back to Queen Victoria‘s day, who wed her cousin Albert of Saxe- Coburg in 1840, it hasn’t always been so taboo.
Queen Victoria notably had more influence on weddings than any other. Not only did she set the trend for brides wearing a white dress, she also designed all-white dresses for her 12 bridesmaids (a la Kate Middleton!).
With the 27-year-old sister and maid of honor confidently donning an ivory white Alexander McQueen dress, buzz inevitably has been generated as to whether it’s really okay to wear white to a wedding or not.
