Lakers Are “Focused and Ready To Battle Dallas” Says Derek Fisher [AUDIO]
Laker’s star guard Derek Fisher called in to “On Air with Ryan Seacrest” Monday to discuss the upcoming playoff game against the Dallas Mavericks tonight at 7:30 PST on TNT. “We’re excited. We get another opportunity to take another step towards our goal of winning another championship, and right now were ready to battle the Dallas Mavericks. We’re focused.”
However Fish did confide that, “We have a tendency to play with the assumptions that we are going to win, because we always have in recent years, and when that doesn’t happen its more frustrating then you can believe.” He continued, “As you move through the playoffs and you play stronger and stronger teams you can’t always rely on your ability to come back and do it better the next time because that team is capable of beating you if you do that too many times.
Regarding the possibility of Kobe Bryant not being able to play up to his full potential due to his recent ankle injury Fish stands by his teammate saying, “With Kobe it always looks worse then it actually is for him. As excruciatingly painful as it can be, he has the ability to tell his body what to do. Once he decides he’s going to get it done then he’ll figure it out. I don’t get overly concerned with his injuries.
After walking Ryan through the average game day of a Laker which consists of practice, walking through offensive and defensive strategies, studying game film, Derek talks about meditating with his teammates before the game saying, “We do it as a team. When the playoffs start we will spend time meditating, and breathing together to bring all of our minds together as one, so to speak.
