As first premiered at KIIS-FM’s Wango Tango on Saturday, the highly-anticipated trailer for Austin Brown‘s debut album has hit the web, sparking inevitable comparisons to the young singer’s uncle Michael Jackson and aunt Janet Jackson.

The 25-year-old singer/songwriter is the son Maureen “Rebbie” Jackson and is being called a cross between his late uncle and Justin Timberlake, a comparison most singers thirst for. Austin’s musical influences include Prince, George Michael and naturally his uncle Michael. As a teen, Austin received encouragement from Prince when “The Artist Formerly Known As” heard him playing piano.

“He told me no matter what I did, to keep playing,” said Austin. “He said ‘by the time you’re my age you’ll be able to play anything you want.’ I’ll never forget that advice.”

Austin’s four and a half minute album trailer was directed by Tom DeSanto, the producer behind “Transformers” and “X-Men,” and isn’t bashful about its themes and influences. The video is brimming with homages to his late uncle, both in photos and in choreography and story.

Comments on the YouTube page echoed the sentiment of music fans who championed the new music, “No lie, I’ve watched this about 10 times, that’s hard for me to do with music today. This is really good,” and “That one move in Target Practice segment where he moves forward by wiggling his front foot. I swear it reminds me when his uncle debuted the moonwalk.”
