Season 10 “American Idol” winner Scotty McCreery and runner-up Lauren Alaina stopped by “The Today Show” Thursday June 2 to perform their singles and a duet together for the morning show’s summer concert series. The pair also revealed they’ll be presenting an award at the CMT awards, talked how they remain grounded, and even what they’d do if they weren’t singers!

The duo both agree they’ll remain grounded because, as Lauren explains, “I think that it’s our faith and God because if we are the same people that we were before this competition than we’ll always be the same people.” Lauren adds, “people think that we’re different now, but we’re not. We’re small town people.”

As for what occupation the small towners would take on if singing hadn’t worked out? Scotty admits he’d be an “astronaut” and Lauren says she’d be a “pediatrician.”
