Host Neil Patrick Harris Expects ‘An Irreverent Tony Awards!’ [AUDIO]
Neil Patrick Harris joined “On Air with Ryan Seacrest” on Thursday to discuss his intense preparations for hosting the upcoming Tony Awards this Sunday, as well as his role in this summers flick “The Smurfs.”
For the past three weeks Neil Patrick Harris has been in New York rehearsing for his role as the host of the 65th Annual Tony Awards. However, Harris is no stranger to hosting the show, he also hosted the 63rd Annual “Tony Awards” in 2009. In the past the “Tony Awards” have been held at Radio City Music Hall, this year they are being held this year at the Beacon Theatre.
Harris says “It will be a crazy year with ‘The Book of Mormon’ being the big show that everyone is talking about, written by the creators of ‘South Park’, Matt Stone, Trey Parker and Robert Lopez. ‘The Book of Mormon’ is full of expletives, very dark humor and hilarious subject matter.” There is a sneaking suspicion that it will be the big winner of the night. Harris expects “It is going to be an irreverent Tony’s, I fear.”
Neil Partick Harris is also starring in The Smurfs, the big 3D movie of the summer. Listen to the full interview to hear more about The Smurfs which opens in theaters July 29, 2011 and the 65th annual “Tony Awards” air this Sunday, June 12 at 8/7c on CBS.
