Two familiar voices will be returning to the music scene next week, as “On Air with Ryan Seacrest” debuts new singles from early ‘Idol’ castoff Pia Toscano and comeback kid Demi Lovato on Monday and Tuesday, respectively. Ryan will not only spin the world premieres, but also talk to both superstar singers about their new songs and what we can expect on each of their upcoming albums.

It’s was a tumultuous winter for Lovato, who in November of 2010 checked herself into a treatment center to deal with “emotional and physical issues” and later revealing she suffered from anorexia, bulimia and bipolar disorder. Now, she’s on the rebound, working on an all-new album with a new sound that she says is closer to R&B than her louder, rock past.

“My first single is really special to me,” Demi told Seventeen Magazine. “To me it symbolizes my journey from the person I was to the happy and healthy person I am today, and the fact that people are able to rise above anything, despite the odds.”

After finishing recording “Skyscraper” and shooting the video for it, Lovato has kept busy working on the rest of the album, which she told MTV News has been a learning process for her.

“I grew up singing R&B and then I grew up listening to rock, so it was kind of weird,” explained Lovato about her musical tendencies. “I’m kind of learning how to encorporate the two and I’m having a good time with it.”

While Lovato was working on rebounding from issues of her past, another dark-haired singer was plucked from the suburbs New York and thrown in to the nation’s biggest singing competition. Just as Pia Toscano was reaching her peak on “American Idol,” the fan favorite was inexplicably voted off the show in a shocking results show that left the nation stunned.

Toscano has now bounced back in more ways than one, recently signing a recording contract with Interscope Records, the same music label behind such powerhouse artists as Lady Gaga, Diddy and the Black Eyed Peas. Her romance with “Dancing With The Stars” pro Mark Ballas has also made headlines, even as “Idol” was still on the air.

Now Toscano is releasing her first single with Interscope Records, “This Time,” a song crafted by hit-maker Ester Dean, who has written smashes for the likes of Beyonce, Rihanna and Nicki Minaj.

22-year-old Toscano has also been working with celebrated producer Rodney Jerkins (of Darkchild fame), who warns music fans to expect a “big, diva-sounding record.”

Tune into “On Air with Ryan Seacrest” Monday, July 11 for the world premiere of “This Time” and an in depth interview with Toscano about her upcoming album and the “Idols Live!” tour.
