Cat Deeley spoke On Air with Ryan Seacrest Friday to discuss her Emmy nomination, So You Think You Can Dance, and a phone call that took her by surprise.

Cat Deeley was recently nominated for outstanding host for a reality competition program and enthusiastically said, “I know that I should be much more British about it and stiff-up to not really caring, but I really do”. It’s refresing to hear a nominee being this honest, and gush about how honored and excited they are to hear about their nomination.

She was beside herself when she heard about her nomination and received a phone call from Mike Darnell, of Fox, and congratulated Deeley saying, “Great job, oh my goodness, it’s to great”, which took Deeley by surprise. Deeley joked about the relationship saying, “I’m not used to him being that nice to me all the time, normally we trade insults and we tease each other, and we’re actually quite mean to each other, in a friendly way.”

Cat Deeley Spills “So You Think You Can Dance” Surprise

Ryan, being an Emmy veteran, gave Deeley a fun run-down of what ‘normally’ goes down when the winner of “outstanding host for a reality competition” is announced. Ryan says, “The standard opperating procedure is Jeff Probst from Survivor goes up, wins, and then we sit there and smile and act like we’re happy for him.

Deeley brings out her feisty British side when she plots to take out the competition. Deeley says, “This year, you and I are going to come up with a plan, I think we can take the rest of the people out. We’ll work in a team and in one foul swoop we’ll make sure we get rid of everyone else in the catagory”.
