While pants may be a necessity for animated heroes with less machismo like Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck, “Shrek” star Puss In Boots is letting it all hang out in a new promo video for his spin-off film of the same name.

Antonio Banderas‘ Puss In Boots sports “No Pants” pants in the lighthearted promo that pokes fun at Brett Favre who famously stars in commercials for Wrangler Jeans chock-full of slow motion pick-up football shots and all-American spirit.

“Built to keep you well ventilated,” says a breathy voiceover while Puss models the non-existant denim. “Built to keep you comfortable because they’re not there.”

Also starring Salma Hayek, Zach Galifianakis and Billy Bob Thorton, the film is already building buzz and expected to garner the same massive box office success that its mainstay “Shrek” accomplished a whopping four times.

Ryan spoke to Antonio Banderas in 2010 about how Dreamworks and Jeffrey Katzenberg plan to evolve the character from what audiences are familiar with in the “Shrek” franchise.

“It’s the story of Puss In Boots… you’re going to see him from when he was just a little kitty kat,” explained Banderas who has been playing the character for seven years. “We’re are doing an epic movie, they are turning the character into an epic hero.”

“Puss In Boots” hits theaters on November 4, 2011.
