4. Puff Daddy and The Family, Faith Evans, 112 and Sting “I’ll Be Missing You” 1997

The man now known as Diddygraced the stage in 1997 to give one of the most touching performances at the VMAs to date. Following the tragic shooting of rapper Notorious B.I.G., ‘Diddy’ organized the performance to celebrate the life and career of his friend with an extremely heartfelt rendition of a classic song. The performance as well the song will live in our hearts forever.

Taylor Swift had an eventful year in 2009. Coming off the Kanye West drama, Taylor showed us at that year’s VMAs that she was a force to be reckoned with by making her entrance on the grandest of scales.
