Rockstar and former “American Idol” finalist Chris Daughtry called into “On Air with Ryan Seacrest” on Wednesday to chat about his new album and to give us a sneak peek of the first single.

After taking some time off, Chris is back with his band and has a brand new single “Crawling Back To You.” The single is off Daughtry’s forthcoming album Break The Spell. Here is what Chris had to say about the new single.

Chris Daughtry’s “Life After You” Is Too Much Of The Same Thing

“We actually wrote the song probably three years ago and it never made the record. We were at my house, writing for this record and we went back to it and listened to it and we were like ‘Man, there is something great about this, but the chorus sucks.’ So, we scraped it and completely rewrote it. We made it more major and uplifting and it went from being a song that was going nowhere, to the first single.”

Chris told us that after he got done touring, he took about four months off to spend time with his family. Chris and his wife recently had twins and he just to be a dad and a husband for awhile before starting work on the new album.

Chris says he was hopeful that when the time came to start working on the new album that inspiration would come flooding in and he told us where the inspiration for the new album came from.

Chris Daughtry’s New Take On GaGa’s Poker Face

“I think a lot of it just came from not doing the same thing I’ve been doing for awhile. I think getting away from it and just completely removing myself allowed me to just go in fresh. Most of the material on the record is way more upbeat, way more positive lyrically than the last two records.

Good news Daughtry fans, the new album Break The Spell will be out Novemeber 21st.
