Dr. Murray’s Attorneys Were Disorganized & Lacked Focus Reports Ken Baker [AUDIO]
E! News Chief Correspondent Ken Baker has been covering the Dr. Conrad Murray trial, so Ken called in to “On Air with Ryan Seacrest” on Tuesday to detail the scene from the courthouse yesterday when the guilty verdict came in for the involuntary manslaughter of Michael Jackson.
“I wasn’t surprised by the guilty verdict. I spent a lot of days inside the courtroom really watching closely, watching jurors, and they seemed to be very persuaded and attentive to what the prosecution was arguing in the case. The prosecution just did a great job. Often times Dr. Murray’s attorneys seemed kind of disorganized and seemed to not really have the focus of the jury and their experts weren’t very convincing,” Ken tells us.
Dr. Conrad Murray was very stoic throughout most of the trial, even when the guilty verdict was read. Ken says he was not surprised by this lack of emotion either, but says, “After watching him throughout that trial, 23 days in that courtroom, when they put the cuffs on him and they put him into custody, which the judge didn’t have to do, but decided to do anyway. He looked, to me, absolutely stunned by it.”
Michael’s parents, Joe and Katherine, along with all his brother and sisters, except for Janet were present in the courtroom yesterday. Also in attendance showing their support, were longtime family friends, Rick and Kathy Hilton, parents of Paris Hilton. Ken says it was a chaotic scene outside the courthouse yesterday, but he was there when the family came out of the courthouse, and he says they looked happy and relieved.
