‘Immortals’ Stars Kellan Lutz & Henry Cavill Share Their Workout Routines [VIDEO]
“On Air with Ryan Seacrest” hostess, Ellen K, reported from the red carpet at the Los Angeles premiere of “Immortals” to get the exclusives from your favorite “Greek gods,” including Kellan Lutz and Henry Cavill.
The red carpet was filled with excitement, and a lot of toned-up, muscular bodies. “Twilight” star, Kellan Lutz, (Poseidon) was well prepared to take on the physique of a god. He says, “I did that (working out) for Generation Kill in 2007. The rocks were real rocks. We were in Africa, and it was seven months working with 37 other actors, and we didn’t have a gym, so we had to kind of build our own gym, which were rocks, doing pushups on humvees. That’s when I ate 16 eggs everyday, but they were egg whites, not the yellow part!”
The hardcore workouts and diets didn’t only help their bodies, but it increased the chemistry on set. Henry Cavill (Theseus), who plays one of the heros, explains, “We trained so much together, you build that sense of camaraderie. The hard work does pay off, and you build a sense of brotherhood… Recently, I was allowed a ‘cheat day’ over the weekend, and so, I had some pizza and enjoyed myself.”
Luke Evans (Zeus), who is able to control thunder and lightning in the movie, is all for creating a six-pack, a eight-pack and a twelve-pack. He remembers, “It was intense. It was something that I’ve never done before. Basically, it was very, very demanding. But it was a great experience, and we looked after each other. Henry and I got crazy in the gym. It was a great experience. It changed my physique forever, hopefully.”
Aside from all of the diets and workouts, Joseph Morgan (Lysander), who stars in “The Vampire Diaries,” gets to play one of the bad guys in the movie. He says of his character, “He goes from bad to worst. He does end up towards the dark side… I think he felt like he wasn’t getting enough respect from the good side, so he decides to try his chances with the side of evil, and as you’ll see, things didn’t go quite as he planned.”
“Immortals” isn’t only about the fellas, there’s also a lot of female empowerment. Freida Pinto (Phaedra) gets to tell people their ultimate fate. She says, “I have the gift to see the future. I have visions, and through one of my visions, I do realize that Theseus is the chosen one to save all mankind from the evil king of Liberia. My mission in the film is to make Theseus, which is Henry, believe in his destiny.”
There are talks that the ending of the movie leaves room for a sequel, and if that’s true, 50 Cent wouldn’t mind starring in it. He says, “Yeah, they can even cover my face.”
