Matt Lauer Discusses ‘Where In The World Is Matt Lauer’ Travels [AUDIO]
Matt Lauer called in to “On Air with Ryan Seacrest” from a ‘tiny lil’ heliport in a valley in the Swiss Alps with sheer rock cliffs on both sides’ to talk about hosting “Where In The World Is Matt Lauer.”
Since the segment began in 1998 at Cairo, Egypt Matt has travelled all over the world, but how does he manage the timezone jumps?
“Your first three days you can stay as much as possible on New York time. By the end of the week your just all over the place. You have no idea where you are.” He goes on to explain,
“For example, in Kuala Lumpur we get done with the show, and my body is telling me its mid-morning so I should just relax for the rest of the day, but its already midnight in Kuala Lumpur. Its pitch black. So your body reacts to that stimulus and wants to go to bed.”
“In the past 10 years I’ve learned to never underestimate the NBC technical department. If we say, “We would love to do this, but its impossible.” They’ll find a way to do it! From Mount Everest to the Swiss Alps to Easter Island to a volcano they’ve done incredible things.”
Matt hinted where he may be tomorrow saying, “I’m going in the direction that I’m pointing in right now, Ryan!”
