Dylan Holland (DylanJosephHolland) was first introduced on ryanseacrest.com when he released a very charming, acoustic cover of Justin Bieber‘s, “Mistletoe.” The support from his fans had his story tweeted over 1,000 times, and it trended under our “Most Liked Stories” section. We knew we had to bring you more Dylan Holland, so here is an exclusive interview with this rising YouTube star.

It’s been less than a year since the 16-year-old joined YouTube, and through his popular covers of artists like the Biebs, he’s stolen the hearts of many female fans. So how does he feel about being compared to the “Never Say Never” heartthrob?

“I take it as an honor. Who wouldn’t want to be compared to him? He’s on top of the world. He’s a super talented artist,” Dylan says. “I don’t get it when people get mad when they say you’re like Justin Bieber. That’s a compliment. People shouldn’t take it the wrong way. I look up to him.”

The Ohio native has been playing the guitar ever since he could remember, but surprisingly enough, he’s only be singing for about two years.

“I can’t really remember what inspired me to do it. I just felt the need that I needed too. I basically taught myself how to sing. I couldn’t sing at the time. I was awful.” He continues saying, “I would come home from school everyday, I’d have to record myself on video, and then, I’d go back and listen to see how I sounded, and I’d have to say everything I heard was wrong.”

Dylan is not only into making videos, but he’s also a fan of watching them. He’s become really good friends with other well-known YouTubers such as Megan and Liz and Peyton Sanders, and when it comes down to collaborations, Dylan has two main contenders in mind.

“I would really like to do a song with Ryan Beatty. He’s a really cool dude. He’s real down to earth. He’s just an amazing kid,” he shares. “Also, I’d really like to do a song with Tyler Ward. I really like Tyler Ward too.”

Social media helps Dylan stay connected, and he’s grateful that he gets to chat with more than 15,000 followers on both YouTube and Twitter.

“We have that advantage that other artists didn’t have back then. It’s really amazing.” Dylan continues saying, “Without all of that stuff, without all the amazing people who run it, we wouldn’t have as much of a following besides maybe locally.”

What’s next for this viral superstar? Dylan will be putting his writing skills to the test on a new mixed tape, due out in February.

“I’m in the process of releasing a mixed tape in February,” he says. “When I say a mixed tape, people automatically think rap. It’s not just going to be just rap. It’s going to be some rap, some country, some rock, some pop. It’s going to be a little bit of everything. And I’m really looking forward to that.”

Dylan’s story proves that things can happen just like that, and he’s really excited for what’s to come.

“It’s really amazing, and I have no idea how I did it, honestly. It’s been crazy. I look back, and I think, I didn’t have anything a year ago,” Dylan remembers. “Now, all these people just listen to my music, and they are my rock. They keep my grounded. They make me look back, and they make say, I’m just glad to be a good person. Just everything I do, I do for you guys.”
