Grande has long teased the release of solo music, but now she’s exclusively bringing RyanSeacrest.com the world premiere of her debut single “Put Your Hearts Up” ahead of its worldwide release on December 20th. Co-written by celebrated songwriter Linda Perry, the song takes a melody from 1993 smash hit “What’s Up?” by Perry’s band 4 Non Blondes.
“Let me see you put your hearts up / if we give a little love, we can change the world,” sings the 18-year-old actress and singer who has previously starred on Broadway in the musical “13.” Grande shot the video for “Put Your Hearts Up” recently and has been tweeting about how she’s lending a hand in the editing process.

“Some of my favorite artists who have really strongly influenced my album and how we’ve written it and the style and the sound are Mariah Carey, Amy Winehouse, The Shirelles, Fergie, Whitney Houston,” explained Grande to Teen.com of the making of her upcoming album. “So it’s a little bit of old school and a little bit of new-ish.”
Though a professional recording artist and actress, Grande made much of a name for herself online through her popular YouTube channel which has amassed over 67 million views, one-third of them from her phenomenal cover of Adele‘s “Rolling In The Deep.” She posts videos regularly for nearly half a million subscribers.
