Moorpark’s Neighborly Love Leads To ‘The Best Christmas Ever’ [AUDIO]
This morning on “On Air with Ryan Seacrest,” Laura from Moorpark nominated her thoughtful neighbors, the Gonzalez family, specifically Jose who inspires and is a mentor to the neighborhood kids despite his own families financial predicament.
I’m writing to you about the most wonderful family that lives next door to us, the Sanchez Family. It’s sad to say that I don’t really know the names of the parents but they have 3 wonderful boys. Their parents work 2 jobs each every day 6 days a week to make sure they can pay the mortgage bills etc. They are just the nicest neighbors always smiling, and willing to do things for other people even if it means for them to go without.
Their youngest son Jose, is working and going to school to try to become a Veterinarian he has been getting straight “A” since 7th grade and is determined to do well in school so that he can get financial aid or scholarships for college so he can get a good education, and hopefully a good job so his parents won’t have to work 2 jobs every day. He is also a great mentor to my two boys always willing to tutor them in school and not take any money for it. Always so polite and willing to give his time just like his parents. Their oldest son just got married and he and his new wife are living with them as well and their middle son works double shifts at Target just to make ends meet. So needless to say there isn’t a lot of extra money for Christmas gifts, home repair, food etc.
Anything you can do would be amazing as it’s hard to find good neighbors and I would love for them to have an amazing Christmas
Why does Jose take the time for others? He says, “I came to this country with nothing, and I still have nothing. My parents are from Peru, and I came with them when I was six or seven. I want to make sure Laura’s kids thrive, and they become as successful. Even more successful then myself, my parents, and even their parents. I want to make sure these kids are always in the right class. If they need help in school I’ll tutor them.”
Ryan then outfitted the family with $500 in Kohl’s gift cards to shop for clothes for Christmas, $500 for groceries, a 32′ Sony Bravia HDTV, HP Envy 14 Beats Laptop computer to help with Jose’s studies, a Dash speed P8 folding bicycle, and a Kodak easy share camera with a Kodak digital frame. Last but certainly not least an additional $1,000 in cash to Jose to buy something for his mother. Listen to the emotional gift giving above.
