Finally! A scientific study that won’t put you to sleep. Well maybe if you’re a guy it will but for all you ladies out there studies are finally confirming that it’s okay to shop to make yourself feel better!
Now let’s take that with a grain of salt. There’s no need to go Carrie Bradshaw on us and forego your rent for a pair of shoes or a designer dress. But if you’re having a bad day that half off sale might be your ticket to feeling better.
The study reveals that 1 in 4 U.S. adults have gone shopping in pursuit of retail therapy. A whopping 49 percent said using coupons or getting a good deal gave them a rush or made them feel happier while 53 percent said they’ve gone shopping for themselves to celebrate good news.
While shopping makes most feel better, 41 percent admit that they’ve hidden purchases from their significant other. Our advice is if you’re buying something you truly want or need there’s no need to feel guilty, especially if it’s your hard earned money!
In the words of Bo Derek, “Whoever said money can’t buy happiness simply didn’t know where to go shopping.”
