‘Bachelor’ Star Melissa Rycroft To Star In New Ryan Seacrest-Produced Reality Series
Her name made headlines across the country following an ill-fated win on season 13 of “The Bachelor”, but Melissa Rycroft found redemption in finishing top three in season eight of “Dancing with the Stars”. Now America’s sweetheart is venturing into a whole new kind of reality TV.
Saturday, CMT announced they’re teaming up with Ryan Seacrest Productions for a new reality series titled “Melissa and Tye: A New Reality” (working title), set to debut in April. The series will follow Rycroft and her husband Tye Strickland, as they juggle being new parents, making a long-distance relationship work and making new career goals become a reality.
“Melissa has had an interesting life journey – from having her heartbroken to marriage and motherhood – that we believe many people will relate to,” said show Executive Producer Ryan Seacrest. “I’ve had a chance to work with her, and I think everyone will appreciate her tenacity and spirit as she pursues her Hollywood dream. She’s bound to have some ups and downs, and we’re hoping audiences will want to tag along for the ride.”
Amid finding great success on “Dancing with the Stars”, Rycroft also found success in her previously tumultuous love life when her home town boyfriend Strickland came back into her life. Now married, with an eleven-month old daughter, the show will capture Rycroft and family moving from Texas to Los Angeles as she pursues her Hollywood dreams.
“America has fallen in love with Melissa Rycroft, but she has been in the homes of CMT viewers since her time on ‘Dallas Cowboys Making the Team,’ said Jayson Dinsmore, CMT’s EVP of development and programming. “We are excited to have her back on CMT as she gives us access to her new role as wife, mother and someone who is now in the glare of the Hollywood spotlight.”
