In the wake of the Disney animated classic “Beauty And The Beast” doing well in 3D at the box office, it’s no surprise that movie-makers are jumping on the bandwagon and hoping to excite fairy tale fans in a new way. Director Christophe Gans (“Silent Hill“) will direct a remake of the childhood favorite at the end of this year, and says he hopes to “surprise the audience by creating a completely new visual universe never experienced before and produce images of an unparalleled quality.”
French actress and model Lea Seydoux recently made an ass-kicking appearance in “Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol,” while Frenchman Vincent Cassel played the intense and creepy ballet choreographer in 2010’s “Black Swan.” Her ethereal beauty and his grizzly good looks are the perfect contrast for Beauty and her captor.
Fairy tale reboots are huge in Hollywood right now. On TV, multiple pilots for “Beauty And The Beast” shows have been picked up for the fall, to be added to ABC’s “Once Upon a Time.” Retellings of “Snow White” are having their year, with Julia Roberts and Lily Collins‘ “Mirror Mirror” competing with Charlize Theron and Kristen Stewart’s “Snow White and the Hunstman,” both out this spring.
