Watch Ryan Beatty’s Acoustic Cover of Katy Perry’s ‘The One That Got Away’ [VIDEO]
2011 was a banner year for Katy Perry, topping the charts with six number one singles including “The One That Got Away,” a song that fawned-over YouTube sensation Ryan Beatty has now covered exclusively for RyanSeacrest.com.
The new cover comes just a week after the 16-year-old singer premiered his debut music video for his first single “Every Little Thing,” quickly collecting over 120,000 views. It’s a busy time for Ryan while he works towards finishing his first album, but he made the time to sit and answer some of our questions!
Ryan said that a lot of the music that was written for him just didn’t click, until writer Dayyon Alexander wrote “Every Little Thing,” now on iTunes. “Starting in July with just those few chords… how that can turn into something that became a single, it’s incredible to think about.”
So who inspires Ryan? He listens to a lot of John Mayer, and speaks highly of Justin Bieber, Nick Jonas and teen cutie Ariana Grande. Ryan says he’s been a fan of the “Victorious“ actress since her Broadway days, and he would love to do a duet with the 18-year-old.
And what does Ryan like to do outside of music? He’s an “absolutely huge” fan of the Harry Potter movies, but the YouTube sensation hasn’t found time yet to read the series yet!
