Singing Superstar Whitney Houston Dies At 48 [VIDEO]
A star stopped shining Saturday afternoon upon the death of majestically talented Whitney Houston, leaving an irreplaceable dent in the entertainment industry.
According to TMZ, Whitney was found dead in her room at the Beverly Hilton hotel this afternoon by a member of her entourage who immediately called the hotel security. The police and paramedics arrived at the scene within minutes, however they could not resuscitate her despite performing CPR. There were no signs of foul play, but the cause of death is still under investigation.
Whitney was last scene at a Grammy party, where she appeared to be disoriented and looked unwell. She even performed briefly by singing with R&B singer Kelly Price.
She famously struggled with drug addiction for several years, and returned to rehab in May of last year for alcohol and drug dependence. She also faced problems with ex-husband Bobby Brown and filed a charge of domestic abuse in 1993.
In an interview with Oprah in 2009, Whitney made it clear that the fame was getting hard to bear. “It was too much. So much to try to live up to, to try to be, and I wanted out,” she said.
Whitney has an incredible amount of success in her life time, including winning 2 Emmys, 30 Billboard Music Awards, 22 American Music Awards and 6 Grammy awards. Her success carried over to the film industry as well, with her role in “The Bodyguard” and “Waiting to Exhale.”
Whitney died at the young age of 48, and leaves behind one daughter, Bobbi Kristina.
