Billie Joe Armstrong Announces New Green Day Album Via Twitter [AUDIO]

Punk rockers and Broadway fans alike will be glad to hear that legendary band Green Day is back in the studio recording their next album! Lead singer and guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong tweeted yesterday: “Happy Valantine’s day! Officially started recording the new record today. It’s ___ TIME!!!!”

In the last few months, Green Day has slowly started to play new material at their live shows, including a tribute to Amy Winehouse called “Amy” and a song titled “Carpe Diem.” The band’s 2004 album American Idiot took the world by storm and was eventually turned into a Tony-award winning Broadway musical. It’s even heading to Britain next year after it closes in New York!
