Nicolas Cage Talks About ‘Getting In The Cage’ with Andy Samberg On SNL [AUDIO]
Nicolas Cage called in to “On Air with Ryan Seacrest” to talk about his surprise guest appearance on Saturday Night Live, opposite Andy Samberg, and a recently discovered Civil War era photograph of man bearing a striking resemblance to Nic.
The movie star began by complimenting Andy’s comedic abilities saying, “He made it his own. When I got to be there side by side with him I could see his comedic timing. He knows how to work the audience. It’s quite exciting to watch.”
But how did the guest appearance come about? “Originally, it was an idea that I had been mulling over for a few months and I said ‘I wonder if they would let me ‘Get In The Cage’ with Samberg?’ Lorne Michaels wanted me to host and the studio was pushing for that, and I thought that it would be more surprising if the audience didn’t expect me. Then suddenly I’m there, and more fun for the audience,” says Nic. Watch the hilarious portion of “Weekend Update” below.
