‘Hunger Games’ Star Lenny Kravitz Goes Shirtless for Interview Magazine [PHOTOS]
Lenny Kravitz, who turns 48 this spring, claims he has been “laying low,” but it looks like this superstar has been doing everything but that as we see him cooking shirtless in photo-spread for Interview Magazine. Raphael Saadiq questioned Kravitz on how he managed to snag the role of Cinna in Gary Ross‘ thriller film, “The Hunger Games.”
The “American Woman” singer was down in the Bahamas recording his latest album Black and White America, when he received the call. “He said, ‘Hi, I’m making this movie called ‘The Hunger Games.’ I think you’d be great. If you want it, you’ve got the part,'” said Kravitz.
And although he didn’t have to audition for the role at all, the rock & roll icon had no idea what the book was about. “I remember I started [the book] late one night and I needed to go to bed—I was tired and had been recording all day and night.” Kravitz was so captured by the story that he couldn’t stop reading. “I finished the book and called him back and said, ‘I’d love to do it.'”
“You know, the film definitely represents these times—from government on down to reality television. It’s interesting that we’re living in these times,” he said. “Really, when you go back to being in junior high school and reading George Orwell’s 1984, you’re like, ‘Man, here we are…’ Our characters have changed, our sensibilities. We’re definitely morphing into something different.”
