According to Entertainment Weekly, Ella easily related to The Hunger Games book when she read it in the 8th grade. She then created “Girl On Fire,” a song inspired by leading character, Katniss Everdeen. “I just remember being really inspired by the themes of fighting for love and family, the unrequited love, the strength of the girl’s character. She’s such a great character. It’s in a different time period, but it’s setting is like Appalachia, which is where I grew up.”

The song, in her words, was like “underwater percussion” and though it didn’t quite make the track list, the singer still released the song to fans, hoping that anybody who enjoyed the story as much as she did will love her music just as much.
