One Direction Breaks Billboard Chart Record With #1 LP

One Direction‘s LP Up All Night is number one today on the US Billboard Top 200 after selling a whopping 176,000 copies. It’s no big surprise considering their massive fan base and the boy band comeback they’ve helped start, but it’s still the first time a UK group has ever debuted at #1 on the US chart with their first LP.

Even more impressive is that 1D is keeping Grammy-winning powerhouse Adele at bay. The songstress’ album 21 held the #1 spot for 23 weeks before getting bumped last week by Bruce Springsteen. It really speaks to One Direction’s popularity that they can continue to keep their fellow Brit in the #2 slot.

Also on the Billboard chart this week is one of Whitney Houston‘s albums, Drake’s Take Care and fun.‘s hit album Some Nights.
