Jennifer Lopez Talks ‘Dance Again’ & Her Upcoming ‘Greatest Hits’ Album [AUDIO]
Jennifer Lopez visited “On Air with Ryan Seacrest” to talk about her newest single “Dance Again” which was produced by Moroccan-born mega producer RedOne and Cuban rapper Pitbull. J. Lo also shared her thoughts on Nicki Minaj guest judging on American Idol, and how long we can expect her to sit on the judges panel. Listen to “Dance Again” below.
Are You Excited For “Dance Again”?
“First of all I love it. I love being able to collaborate with the producer RedOne again, and working with Pitbull again. We had a great chemistry the last time, and it was like ‘We’re going to have to do something again.’ And this was the perfect song. I love the message of the song. That when something bad happens, your life is not over. You have to get up. You’re gonna live. You’re gonna to be okay. You’re gonna dance again.”
Will “Dance Again” Be Featured On Your “Greatest Hits” Album?
“We don’t know yet. Whether it’s going to be a full album or ‘Greatest Hits.’ I’m working on a collection of songs right now, and I don’t know what I’m going to do with them, but here’s the first single!”
Why Release A Song Now?
“I think when it came to me it was the perfect moment. I definitely related to that. I think it’s a good thing to put it out there right now, because everybody goes through tough moments. Everybody goes through hard times, and I am no stranger to that myself. So to even hear the demo of the song. Actually, we re-wrote some of the lyrics to fit in to that message.”
What Did You Change In The Song?
“A few things. Like in the verses. [Laughs] You listen and you decide! The overall message is there!”
What Makes Producer RedOne Special?
“It’s chemistry that you have with someone, and he gets me. I think all the artists he chooses to work with, because I think he is very selective, are people that he really believes in and really understands as artists. I think that’s his gift. When he connects with somebody he can really bring their vision to life of who they are or who he thinks they are, but also how the world perceives them. Because sometimes your own vision of yourself is not how other people see you. It’s true! That’s part of it. I think he really sees it from an outside perspective, and is able to kind of help you make something great.”
On Jennifer’s Love For Music:
“Music makes people smile. I was just in Brazil the other day, and these kids were dancing and singing and playing their instruments with this joy on their faces. I don’t speak Portuguese, and the audience was all press from all over the world, and everybody. It just makes everything else just go away. It makes you be in the moment when it’s good. When there’s dance. When there’s song, when there’s music. It’s something that just transcends.”
Is Nicki Minaj Coming To “American Idol” As A Fourth Judge?
“I don’t know! She said she wanted to, but we were like ‘Okay come on!’ and then she was like ‘Scoot over!’ and I said ‘I don’t know about that! I don’t know if we could share the same chair!’”
How Long Do You Think You Will Be On “American Idol?”
“I don’t know. Last year you asked me this, and I really didn’t know. I didn’t know, and I was asking ‘Was I going to do this again or was I not going to do this again? Am I going to do another record this year?’ So I was just going to go with the flow. Then music just started coming to me. Red was sending me stuff. I sing with Wisin Yandel, this great group that I have another record coming out with them this year, and I’m featured on one of their records. Music just started coming to me and that’s just one of those things that happens in the world, and in the universe. When something is just meant to be it just starts happening. I kind of go with that flow for everything in my life. I know that this is what I am meant to do. I just don’t know what the next thing is going to be. I kind of try and go with what feels right.”
What Do The “American Idol” Judges Do Before Going Onstage?
“They like to hold my hand, and go arm-in-arm. I love them. I kind of look to both of them, each and every time, and I kind of bang on Randy’s arm, and I look at Steven and I kind of grab him and shake him, and I go ‘Let’s go have fun!’ and they go ‘Yeah! lets go have fun!’ Then everybody goes ‘Fun! Fun!’ Then you come over and your like ‘Yeah! Lets go have fun! Let’s be crazy!’ Then that’s it. Then we go.”
Reaction Heejun Han Being Voted Off “American Idol”:
“I loved him from the first moment he walked in. First of all he shocked me the moment he came in. He came in and, you know, just the way he looked I didn’t expect that voice to come out of his mouth. And when it came out it was just like something…’Is this as special as I think it is?’ and it really was. Through the competition…you know how it goes…some people have great voices that kind of fall to the wayside, and they really don’t pick up their steam, and he just kept on getting better and better and better. Then when he got on the live shows we saw this other side of him. This jokester. This prankster. This other person, and I don’t feel like America got a chance to connect with his part the way we did in the beginning. We saw more vulnerable, heartfelt side to him that America never got to see until that last performance that he did.”
Was Jimmy Iovine Calling Heejun Out The Reason He Was Voted Off?
“No, I know everybody listens to what Jimmy says, and even to what we say as the judges, but at the end of the day America makes their own decision on people, and Heejun was certain things, and I feel like they [America] read him like they wanted to read him. Some liked it, and obviously some didn’t.”
“Dance Again” will be available on iTunes on Monday, April 2nd with the scorching hot video set to debut on Thursday, April 5th during hit Fox television show “American Idol.”
