Could Britney Spears Be A Judge On “The X-Factor”?
“If it was my decision, 100%…if we could get her,” Simon tells us. So, what are the chances that she would say yes? “We’ll have to find out very soon…if we’ve spoken to her. Don’t forget there are a lot of names that have been bandied around, some true, some false. But we’ve said to everyone we’ve spoken to, we’ve got to keep quiet about it. You got to wait until people sign up, but we’re very, very close.”

On Putting Together UK Boy Band One Direction:
“They [One Direction] came on the UK version of ‘The X Factor’ as individual singers. For whatever reason it didn’t work out for them…I brought back these 5 guys and I said: ‘We’re going to give you another shot, this time as a group. You’ve got 5 or 6 weeks to get it together before I see you the next time.’ Then they came back and they were amazing. I remember thinking at the time, ‘If they can do this in 5 weeks, this group will be sensational,'” Simon told us. “They were thinking, ‘We’re still in the competition. We can walk home with something.’ It really was strength in numbers and also the fact that there was a gap in the market,” Simon explains. “When I saw them standing there for the first time as a group, something clicked, you could just sense that they had something. But they got it together themselves in the 6 weeks it took for me to see them the 2nd time and they were like friends. They were smart these boys, they knew what they wanted to do. Once they finished the competition, we said we were going to sign them and they had a big input into the album. Then it just sort of happened on its own, all through the internet.”
