Gotye Performs, Gets Music Video Mocked To His Face on ‘SNL’ [VIDEO]
This weekend on “Saturday Night Live,” Gotye appeared in studio 8H to perform “Somebody That I Used To Know,” and “Eyes Wide Open,” the former of which has undoubtedly caught on like wildfire around the world as listeners fall for his smooth and powerful vocals. The Australian electric/pop artist made his “SNL” debut with a powerful rendition of the song that led to favorable reviews from viewers who know a performance on the sketch show can make or break an emerging artist.
Kimbra (New Zealand artist featured on “Somebody That I Used To Know”) joined Gotye on stage and later explained, “I think ‘SNL’ is so well-known for its musical performances, as well, and people really breaking into America through a really great performance on there. So I think me and Gotye are both really excited to be amongst such company. You know, it’s great.”
Kimbra stayed clear of appearing in any of “SNL’s” skits saying, “That would be fun, but I’m not very funny.” Gotye himself was up for the challenge and was featured in a skit with funny men Andy Samberg and Taran Killam, spoofing the music video for “Somebody That I Used To Know.”
