When asked why the newly wedded couple was interested in doing reality television, Melissa responded: “This time I’m not competing for boys or a mirror ball trophy. We wanted to make a really good, down to earth family style reality show that’s funny but relatable at the same time.”

Melissa has also been public about the fact that she has battled with postpartum depression since giving birth. She discusses that her symptoms were not directed towards herself or her daughter as most cases tend to be, but rather she experienced a feeling of emptiness. “I was so unhappy with everything. I am looking at my life thinking I have everything to be thankful for. I have a loving husband, a beautiful healthy girl, I have a house, a roof over my head, and food on my table, and I was empty.”
