Producer Judd Apatow called in to “On Air with Ryan Seacrest” on Friday to talk about his new movie “The Five-Year Engagement,” his daughter’s obsession with One Direction, why he thinks his daughter has 50,000 twitter followers, and how he feels about a particular ‘Idol’ contestant.

On ‘Idol’ Contestant Phillip Phillips:
“I was just talking to my lovely wife, Leslie Mann, about how I’m hoping Phil Phillips gets kicked off, she has a crush on him and I don’t like it,” he says. “I don’t think it’s cool to have a name where your first and your last name is basically the same name. You can’t trust Michael Michaelson or Eric Ericson.”

On His Daughter Being Obsessed With Boy Band One Direction:
“She’s obsessed with One Direction. We went to see One Direction on ‘Saturday Night Live‘ and she cried like it was The Beatles. She was actually shaking and crying,” he says. And why does he think his daughter had this reaction? “I think it’s the fact that she has a 1 in 5 chance of getting one of them to marry her.”

On His Daughter Having 50,000 Twitter Followers:
“We don’t call her Maude anymore, we call her @MaudeApatow. For some reason which we don’t understand she has 50,000 twitter followers. I mean she’s pretty funny, I’m just assuming it’s that. The other day she had very controversial tweet, which is ‘I’m sick of white guys with tattoos and fedoras doing happy hip hop raps.’ It went down, there was a war on Twitter after that.”

On ‘The Five-Year Engagement':
“‘The Five-Year Engagement’ stars Jason Segel and Emily Blunt and Mindy Kahling’s in it, and Kevin Hart. Who I guess is the most popular comedian in the world right now. I don’t know how that happened, he was just my short friend. I don’t know how this all began, but It’s an incredibly hilarious movie, it’s a good date movie, it’s a good warm-up for ‘Avengers‘ basically.”

Judd continues, “I don’t really understand the premise of the movie. I produce it, I don’t get the premise, because when Leslie agreed to marry me I felt it was necessary to get the ring on her really quick before she changed her mind. I don’t like to wait 5 years, but in the movie it’s hilarious and Jason is just one of the funniest guys ever, I’m really excited for people to see it and we’ll see.”

“The Five-Year Engagement” opens in theaters today!
