Skylar Laine Talks Elimination, Upcoming ‘Idol’ Tour, And What’s Next [AUDIO]

May 7, 2012 8:32 am

Recently eliminated American Idol contestant  Skylar Laine called in to “On Air with Ryan Seacrest” Monday to talk about her experience on the show and what her plans for the future are. Not to mention the upcoming American Idol summer tour!

On Jimmy Iovine’s Tough Criticism:
“Jimmy is really open with his opinions, and honestly, he would not be where he is today if he didn’t know a thing or two. So, I take his opinions to heart and I think that he’s just trying to make us better. He doesn’t want to make anybody worse. If he didn’t like a performance, then that’s his opinion. Everyone has one and I respect it completely. Sometimes it makes you grit your teeth, but you get over it.”

“Me and Hollie [Cavanagh] are best friends in the competition and she thought she was going to go home, because she had been there before. I just kind of looked at her and I just kind of said: ‘I think you’re going to be surprised Hollie.’ I just had a gut feeling, I felt something and I was really accepting of it,” Skylar tells us. “It just hit me when I was walking back up on stage. I was like: ‘It’s going to be me. I can just tell, I know it is.’ And I just prepared myself and I was like: ‘I’m just going to rock out, I’m going to leave on a good note, and leave with what they know me as.'”

What’s Next For Skylar Laine?
“I want to record an album, I’m thinking about the tour right now [American Idol Tour], because the tour is going to be a lot of fun, but doing all this press and hearing the people who say: ‘You are going to have a long career ahead of you.’ It’s amazing. Because I just want to come out with an album, I want to be at the CMA Fest this year, I want to do all that stuff, that’s my dream. I mean, coming in 5th place, I’m really accepting of that, Because Kellie Pickler, I love her, and she came in 6th and look at her now. So, hopefully, I will following in those footsteps.”
