Jason Derulo Debuts New Song ‘Undefeated’ — Download Your Free Copy [AUDIO]
“Dim the lights, here we go…”
In just a few short hours America will crown either Phillip Phillips or Jessica Sanchez it’s next “American Idol,” and in true regal fashion today’s hottest artists gathered at Nokia Theater in preparation for the musical coronation.
Multi-platinum recording artist Jason Derulo not only debuted his new crowd-sourced single, “Undefeated” with an amazing performance last night during “American Idol,” but the star gave away 25,000 free downloads of his song courtesy of Coca-Cola. Derulo fans downloaded “Undefeated” from both AmericanIdol.com (10,000 copies are available) and RyanSeacrest.com (5,000 copies are available) yesterday.
Derulo rose to fame in 2011 after releasing his self-titled debut album, which sold 850,000 copies worldwide. The crooner called in to “On Air with Ryan Seacrest” this morning to talk about the single. “The fans got to help me write the song,” he said. “I started writing the song, but I left a bunch of lines blank and the fans have been helping me fill in the lines.” [Listen]
The collaborative effort is part of Coca-Cola’s “Perfect Harmony” initiative, designed to give fans the opportunity to participate in the songwriting process. Just like American Idol, fans have been voting online for their favorite lyrics, following four rounds of submissions. The top four lyrics, narrowed down by judges, are incorporated in the song.
