Phil is the only “Idol” to have his debut single “Home” hit No. 2 on Billboard‘s Digital Songs chart. He also made “Idol” records by coming in at No. 10 on Billboard’s Hot 100, an accomplishment he shares with Season 7 winner, David Cook, who’s single “Time of My Life” debuted and peaked at No. 2.
Jessica is making her rounds in New York at different TV appearances and when she stopped by the “TODAY” show she blew the audience away with her rendition of the late Whitney Houston‘s “I Will Always Love You” and the “Dreamgirls” hit, “And I Am Telling You.” Host Matt Lauer interviewed the 16-year-old and she talked about how proud she was of fellow contestant Phillips because of both the physical and emotional struggles he had to endure. Would she change anything if she could go back? Jess tells Matt, “Not at all. There’s been some bumpy moments in the competition but I made it to the finale so I have no regrets at all.”
Phillips was scheduled to have surgery earlier in the week for his ongoing kidney stones, however he postponed the surgery to next week due to a sinus infection.
