Joan Rivers Talks ’50 Shades of Grey’ & Not Wanting To Be A Cougar [AUDIO]
Joan Rivers called in to “On Air With Ryan Seacrest” Thursday to discuss her new book, “I Hate Everyone, Starting With Me,” how “Fifty Shades of Gray” was almost named after her, and why she wouldn’t want to be a cougar.
Has Joan Read “Fifty Shades of Grey?”:
“No, because the book was going to be called ’48 Shades of Blue’ after my legs. Stole the title from me, Ryan, and I’m very pissed. Also, I didn’t read it because my hands were tied to the bed posts.”
Is Joan A Cougar?:
“I don’t want to be a cougar, to be honest with you, because I don’t want to wake up in the morning and look over and say, ‘is this my date or did I give birth last night,’ I just like an older man.”
On Why She Hates Obituaries:
“I hate obituaries that say things like, ‘Sheila Schwartz, 108, suddenly…’ It can’t be suddenly, she’s 108! The woman was so stooped over, she was looking up at her crotch. They should say ‘Sheila Schwartz, 108, about time.’”
On Her Reputation For Intimidating People:
“Starlets fear me and they’re not people.”
On Writing “I Hate Everyone, Starting With Me”:
“It was very easy, I just sat on planes and everything that annoyed me, I’d write a paragraph about it. And the New York Times has picked it on their must read summer list, how about that?”
Joan will be signing copies of her book tonight at The Grove’s Barnes & Noble. Lookup Map.
