‘Rock of Ages’ Star Julianne Hough Talks Being Friends With Mary J. Blige [AUDIO]

Rock of Ages” star Julianne Hough called in to “On Air with Ryan Seacrest” on Friday to chat about the movie, working with Tom Cruise, and being friends with Mary J. Blige.

On Mary J. Blige:
“She’s amazing, literally she leaves me messages on my cell phone: ‘Hey, just thinking about you. Hope you’re doing well.’ You know, just checking in, she’s amazing. I literally thought that I was going to be super intimidated and nervous, but she’s a sweetheart, she’s amazing, and she just happens to be Mary J. frickin Blige.”

On Working With Tom Cruise:
Julianne tells us: “He’s incredible.” Ryan then played a clip from her co-star when he called in to the show recently. Here is what Tom had to say about Julianne: “She’s very talented, she’s a hard worker, and she’s someone who wants to learn and wants to grow. You look at what she’s accomplished with her life. I really admire her.”

Tom Cruise Talks Creating Stacee Jaxx for ‘Rock of Ages’

“Oh wow! That makes me so happy. He’s incredible,” Julianne gushes. “I’m so glad that I got to be around somebody that hard working and literally brings everybody else’s spirits and energy up on set, because everybody wanted to be better. He made everybody better, because he’s so great. I think honestly, this is one of the best things that he’s done. I think people are going to flip out.” And what about that scene where Tom Cruise’s character put his hand on her chest? “There wasn’t a lot of acting going on,” Julianne laughs.

Are There Any Embarrassing Scenes?
“How could I be embarrassed, I’m literally next to Tom Cruise, Alec Baldwin, Russell Brand, and I got to sing with Mary J. Blige, there’s no embarrassing moments in this movie. I’m like beyond thrilled,” Julianne exclaims.

“I think that girls are going to sing along, but I think that guys are going to go sing along. I call it a ‘dude-sical,’ because guys like it. It’s a dude musical..there are hot naked girls on poles,” Julianne says.
