If you thought Kanye West’s “Mercy” was good before, watch as smokin’ hot American Idol alum Antonella Barba sizzles in this new rendition of the song, covered by band LA-EX.

Barba burst into the public spotlight in 2007 as a contestant on season six of American Idol.  The New Jersey native made it to the top 16, (Jordin Sparks was eventually crowned champion) but her image was shrouded in controversy due to a few racy pictures that leaked to the public.  Not the only member of LA-EX familiar with the industry, Barba is joined by producers/ remixers/ songwriters/ Epic and SQRL, who you may recognize from the band Crazy Town (remember them??) , a rap rock band best known for their #1 hit “Butterfly” in the early 2000’s.  The three teamed up and have been working furiously in the studio for the past nine months making futuristic beats with a disco soul sound.

Barba brings raw female power to the song as she raps the verses while flaunting toned, tanned abs. Dressed to kill, she carries out Kanye’s song with style.

Think this group has what it takes to make it big? LA-EX drops their EP, So High in early July.
