Until recently though, attempts to bring back all-male pop performance groups have been unsuccessful. Anyone remember that show “Making the Band?” Exactly.

But music mogul Simon Cowell knows exactly what American girls are looking for—dreamy British boys—and his creation One Direction has proven to be a big success. Even former Backstreet member Nick Carter approves.
