The same day Jennifer Lopez suggested she would be leaving the judges table on “American Idol,” Aerosmith lead singer Steven Tyler abruptly announced he would not return for season 12.

“After some long…hard…thoughts…I’ve decided it’s time for me to let go of my mistress ‘American Idol’ before she boils my rabbit,” Steven said in a statement. “…IDOL was over-the-top fun, and I loved every minute of it…Now it’s time to bring Rock Back.”

Steven has been a judge on the show for two seasons. His announcement comes hours after Jennifer appeared on the “Today” show claiming she wasn’t sure if she would return to the singing competition show. “I am thinking its time for me to go and do other things I love to do,” Jennifer told the morning show.
