It’s a case of being in the right place at the right time, and luckily for this 7-year-old girl, the good Samaritan saved her life. What seemed like a regular afternoon in a Brooklyn, N.Y. neighborhood turned into a day of suspense when 7-year-old Keyla McCree was teetering atop the air conditioner outside her window.

When neighbors cried for help, all seemed lost until MTA bus driver Steven St. Bernard jumped to action; and just in time, too. St. Bernard told CBS New York that as he waited below he could only think, “I was just praying that I would get there, and that if she fell that I would catch her.” And that he did. In the chilling footage from a bystander, we see St. Bernard anxiously waiting below and in a matter of seconds, the small girl plunges three-stories into his arms.

The mother of McCree claimed she didn’t realize her daughter was outside the window, despite numerous knocks on her door. The child is safe and sound and suffered no injuries from the fall. St. Bernard, however, sustained a torn tendon in his arm to which he said to reporters, “It’s all good.”
