Sure we will miss the extra sexiness Michael Phelps sprinkles on the Olympics, but his athleticism and humility are what we will miss most. The 27-year-old is three medals away from becoming the most decorated Olympian of all time, an honor that even has Michael speechless.

“A lot of the things I have done in my career haven’t really sunk in yet,” Phelps said in is his Today Show interview with Ryan Seacrest.

The swimmer described his unfinished business and how the word “last” has resonated into each of his daily activities. His last Tuesday afternoon workout and his last double are just a few of his final Olympic recollections that he will certainly not take for granted.

“It’s kind of emotional— I think back over the last 20 years and what has happened through my career. It’s been a lot of great memories,” Michael said. Motivated by not only his inspirational drive, Michael definitely has his eye on the prize and is “looking forward to some great swims.”

Describing this year’s aquatic center as “overwhelming,” Phelps explains that he is focusing on stroke control and hand techniques to improve his performances, and he’s positive that he is in tip-top mental and physical shape. We will not disagree with that!

Catching up on Breaking Bad in his downtime, Michael says he is just relaxing outside of practice and trying to keep cool in Olympic quarters— the housing commons are without air conditioning! Beating the heat, Michael seems ready for an epic year at the Olympics.
