Watch Missy Franklin Reunite With Family After Gold Medal Win [VIDEO]
Behind every great Team USA athlete is a supportive group of family members and friends. For many Olympic stars, their parents have sacrificed vacations, jobs, and free time to always be there for their son or daughter.
Whether it’s emotional support in times of difficulty or rides to practice, Olympic parents deserve lots of credit for their child’s success. Take a look at two parents who have made quite the impression during the Summer Games.
Swimmer Missy Franklin’s Parents
Dick and D.A. Franklin were overjoyed when they were able to hug their daughter, Missy, after her Gold Medal win. “We haven’t seen her for three weeks,” D.A. said. “I haven’t seen her since she left for camp.” For many athletes, life is too hectic to meet in person with their families. Many only communicate through text messages. For that reason, the Franklin reunion was filled with tears of joy.
Gymnast Aly Raisman’s Parents
Days after video surfaced of Lynn and Rick Raisman stressed to the max during their daughter’s gymnastic’s routine, the proud parents spoke with Natalie Morales about the viral clip. “I’m embarrassed watching it now,” Rick said. “You don’t even realize it, you are so locked in.”
The two parents cannot wait until Aly and the rest of the gymnastic team compete for Gold later this week.
